Unspoiled beaches in Trat
Posted by paul on March 16th, 2008 filed in The South, Travel destinationsEach month huge crowds of travellers arrive in Trat but almost nobody spends more than a couple of hours on the mainland of this most eastern located province of Thailand. Most tourists hurry through in order to catch one of the ferries that navigate frequently to the popular island destinations of Koh Kood and Koh Chang.
They truly don’t realise what they’ve missed not staying longer at one of Trat’s fabulous untouched beach areas! Mainland Trat boasts miles of serene palm-shaded sandy beaches, picturesque fishing villages and a wide range of mouth-watering seafood dishes, which make this destination a great peaceful getaway.
Unlike Chang Island, the majority of Trat Province’s beach areas remain mostly undeveloped. Some beaches are flanked by forests and others covered by willows while only dirt tracks provide access to several other peaceful, pretty and clean beach areas.

Paradisciacal beaches in mainland Trat
These hardly by tourists visited beaches, which run along the narrow strip of land protruding from the centre of Trat leading up to Cambodia’s border offer off the beaten track paradises. A short vacation here gives you the option to experience serendipity and discovery alike.
Trat is located about 196 miles from Bangkok and can be reached by car within less than two and a halve hour. Khmer language plays an important role in the region’s commercial and cultural life alike. Geographically positioned next to the Cambodian province of Koh Kong, Trat has many times offered refuge to Cambodians. Khmer is the second language among the villagers living along the beach areas between Trat’s centre and Khlong Yai, which is the east’s last district.
The road linking Baan Had Lek, Khlong Yai district’s easternmost village to Trat Town is where visitors can find the finest beaches. Muk Kaew should not be missed as it is one of the few reachable by an asphalted road offering mid-range accommodation. A perfect day at this beach should start with a refreshing swim in the ocean followed by a rich seafood lunch. The pine trees provide the shade in which to rest during the afternoon while your favourite tropical cocktail can be enjoyed before night falls…
